The Poet's A. C., Inc. is a non-profit organization established over 25 years ago in response to the needs of students within the Greenmount - North Avenue corridor targeting a population that consists of students from low-income, minority, and single parent households. The Poet's A.C.'s purpose is to:
  • Encourage the advancement of young people in an athletic and an educational capacity.
  • Encourage the enhancement of community with its civic responsibilities.
  • Help create or build an awareness of self-esteem in young people.
  • Provide Christmas Baskets for the homeless and low-income families.
  • Provide mentoring and tutoring in adopted urban schools.
  • Establish a partnership with East Baltimore Development Inc. and aid in their efforts to create Baltimore's New Eastside.
  • Provide an after-school mentoring program to make available internet access, educational resources, in-house tutoring program, and safe haven for social activity.

The Poets Athletic Club, Inc. is pleased to announce one of the best 2010 Historically Black Colleges Universities tours in the area. This tour will focus on the HBCU's in the Southern U. S. and will also include a tour of the White House.

This effort is one of many endeavors that the Poets AC, Inc. have planned for the 2009 - 2010 school year.
